The Praxis¨ Next typeface family is a complete update to the original 1976 Praxis design. The new family enlarges the weight range from five to nine and adds a suite of condensed designs. All roman typefaces have complementary italic counterparts. The total family now consists of 36 individual typefaces. Praxis Next has the same robust shapes and proportions as the original design, and benefits from a large x-height, substantial counters and open apertures. These ensure high levels of legibility and reading ease at text sizes in print, and at modest resolution on small screens. The regular designs are space economical while the condensed typefaces are now-right miserly. Praxis Next also benefits from soft corners which gives the design an inviting, affable demeanor. The complete Praxis Next family is available as OpenType¨ Pro fonts, allowing graphic communicators to use this design while taking advantage of OpenTypeÕs capabilities. OpenType Pro fonts provide for the automatic insertion of small caps, ligatures, lining and old style figures, in addition to an extended character set supporting most Central European and many Eastern European languages. |
